Go The Distance
Thursday 7th September, we left our peaceful coastal town to take to the bustling heart of Manchester.
The destination? The highly anticipated MNCR Meet Up.
3 trains. 1 tube.
Hastings to Ashford – Ashford to St Pancras – St Pancras to Euston – Euston to MNCR.
With a 275-mile, four-and-a-half-hour journey ahead of us spirits were high as we looked forward to immersing ourselves in the vibrant cultural hub that has drawn talent from all corners of the UK and beyond in recent years
It is something WE as a business have been talking about for so long, but now it was here the excitement was real…
Why Manchester?
When you think of Manchester you think of music, fashion, the home of football, where the atom was split, the first industrialized city in the world, and maybe even the birthplace of the Rolls Royce.
But for us, WE think of the opportunity for brands and local talent in the world of digital.
With local giants such as Boohoo, Shop Direct, Frasers Group and JD Sports tending to be the first to come to mind. However, this city is now the birthplace of some of the most exciting start-up brands in the UK. Brands such as Refy, Arne, and Oh Polly are making a lot of noise in the area and on the market meaning the digital offering to local and UK-wide specialists is at an all-time high.
Manchester is continually strengthening its position as a thriving hub for both job seekers and employers, and we are both excited and committed to being a part of this incredible city’s growth.
Here are just a couple of facts for you:
- Manchester, with its 580,000 residents, proudly stands as the UK’s second-largest city region economy, rivalled only by London. This vibrant city has established itself as a colossal £5 billion digital powerhouse, with sub-sectors specializing in e-commerce and the creative industry.
- One of the jewels in Manchester’s crown is MediaCityUK, nestled in Salford Quays, which is home to the BBC. This dynamic hub has been pivotal in elevating Greater Manchester’s profile and attracting gifted talents. It stands as a living testament to the region’s impressive digital evolution over the past decade.
What Went Down At The MNCR Meet Up?
WE all know northern hospitality is so welcoming and WE couldn’t vouch for anything different.
Our day was packed with 27 pre-booked appointments, WE had the privilege of meeting incredible talent, each brimming with a passion for the digital realm all sharing one clear interest… eCommerce.
WE spoke with experts across the, data, marketing, eCommerce, CRM space. you name it, WE spoke about it…
As well as meeting people excited about potential opportunities our Founder, Terry had booked 4 meetings with brand leaders to sell back our commitment to the industry and why, The WeComm Group is best positioned to help them with their recruitment needs.
Did this work? It sure did, terms were sent, briefs were taken, and WE left with opportunity after opportunity – In fact, WE introduced someone to a client on the day – An interview was requested on the spot…
After a long day of meetups, God knows how many teas and coffees were drunk and for one guest in particular, a few porn star martinis (this was a 4 pm meeting, so was acceptable) and the most INSANE food, it was time to head back…
24 people met – 4 clients met, 7 new live vacancies, 1 interview request – WIN…
